Membership At John Knox Presbyterian Church (PCUSA)…

JKPC is the home of about 240 active members as well as a host of friends of the congregation. Membership in the church provides one with all pastor care privileges, use of the building, access to the various programs and ministries, as well as an opportunity to hold ordained office and vote. Membership is granted by the Church Board (Session) and a public reception of new members is conducted on a Sunday morning during a regular worship service.

Membership is obtained in one of three ways:

Letter of Transfer: Persons who are members of another Christian church may choose to ask that their membership be transferred to JKPC. Our Clerk of Session is willing to assist in this matter.

Profession of Faith: This is an opportunity for one who has never before publicly confessed Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. This profession of faith would include baptism if the person has never been baptized. At JKPC as is the case in all PCUSA churches, the preferred method of baptism is “sprinkling”, but “immersion” is an option.

Reaffirmation of Faith: When a person has been baptized and held membership in another church but that membership has lapsed they would make a reaffirmation of their faith as means of entering church membership.
